Highest level of Georgian hospitality found at Tbilisi Marriott

Outdoor dining is delightful on the patio at the Tbilisi Marriott.

There are many business opportunities for the potential foreign investor in Georgia and the climate for visitors has been made so much more enjoyable with the opening this summer of one of these very same foreign investments. The Marriott Tbilisi Hotel is an oasis of comfort and superb good service in an environment where these are otherwise very lacking for the traveler.

A typical guidebook to Georgia will refer to the “ugly Soviet block buildings one encounters everyone in the country.” This reference is certainly correct but also superficial for it is inside the apartments and homes of Georgians that one finds the famous hospitality and often one can be delighted with the contrast between the private family life and the outside public facades.

At the Tbilisi Marriott the visitor finds a beautiful restoration of an old hotel building on the outside as well as five-star luxury and service on the inside. This quality comes not only from the front desk personnel and the knowledgeable concierge service, but extends to the bar and dining rooms, to housekeeping and to the admirable Business Service Center, the heart of the hotel’s operation for a visiting business person.

The Marriott guest also is located in the center of the Georgian capital city, across the street from Parliament and the offices of the President and the State Minister. But also Rustaveli Avenue, the town’s main street is at your front door, only a block from the opera house, the top theater and close to several pleasant restaurants and pretty-good souvenir shops. So, when it comes to location, this hotel could not be situated in a better place.

The principal Georgian developer of the property, George Tavadze, has a philosophy about foreign investments that merits careful attention: “My country needs foreign investment and we have a lot of good opportunities. But I would advise someone who chooses to use their capital here to be sure they have local partners who understand our community, our people and our investment climate.” If an investor chooses to join with George Tavadze in helping to build the new Georgia, one thing is for sure: He can recommend a good hotel for when you come to see your money at work.
